Wedding Outfit Fittings and Alterations: A Complete Guide
· Site Admin · 1 min read
Your wedding outfit deserves a perfect fit. Plan your fittings with this simple timeline.
6–8 weeks before: design and measurements
Book a consultation, finalise the design and fabric, and have your measurements taken by the tailor — not from an old garment.
3–4 weeks before: first trial
Check the fit at the shoulders, bust/chest and waist. Sit, walk and lift your arms — heavy embroidery can feel tighter than it looks.
1–2 weeks before: final trial
Wear the same footwear and undergarments you will use on the day so hem lengths and fit are accurate.
Common alterations
- Taking in or letting out at the side seams
- Adjusting blouse length and neckline depth
- Shortening lehenga or sherwani hems
- Moving hooks, zips and buttons for comfort
